Working in different countries and cultures come with their own challenges, but are surprisingly similar in many ways. When I was based as a public health researcher in Uganda, I wanted to not lead but to be guided to learn their ways of working. We all wanted the same goal, to help others, to change the systems perpetuating the problem and to know we somehow made a difference by working together.
